About Susan

Susan Thomas, writer and educator, is a Daughter of the Republic of Texas with generations of native Texans on both sides of her family. She grew up hearing stories that left her in awe of the courage and resiliency of those who came before her.

Raising her family in Houston, Texas, she became a teacher and then a Certified Academic Language Therapist, working specifically with students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.

Her passions for history and developing a love for reading in her students led her to look at her own history as a source of inspiration to help young readers engage in history.
